The picture of Marilyn Monroe uses colour to add effect to the image, Marilyn Monroe herself is in black and white except her lips which are red, the background is also pink. Her lips are red because red is usually there to represent passion and love, but it can also be used to represent danger, this makes the image quite sexual which shows how colour can have a strong effect. The photographer has used a close-up to bring all the attention to the face, the posture of her is quite flirtatious, inviting and provocative. All of this conforms to view of what a woman should look and be like in the 50's, the looks are all about her blonde curls, beauty spot and red lipsticks which was the classic look for women in Hollywood.

INNOCENCE
This image is used to represent innocence. The photographer uses a baby to represent innocence because they are young and haven't experienced the real world. The baby has wide open eyes that shows it's fascinated. It a medium close up of the baby because all the expression is in the face and not the body. They have also chosen to put the image in black and white instead of colour because it shows that older people don't view the world in the same way a child does. The baby is looking straight at the camera allowing the person looking at it, to see all the expression in their eyes. This conforms to our view of a baby because a child is typically the image of innocence. The child is also very cute which is what most people expect a baby to look like, big eyes and a chubby face. The enigma in this photo is what the baby id looking at, it may be looking at the camera or something in the distance behind the camera. The body posture of the baby also gives the effect that it's leaning in like it's interested in something.

Doctor Who
I have chosen to write about Doctor Who as my media product. I have chosen it because I like the programme and it is one of the most popular TV programmes, having been around for more than 40 years It appeals to all sorts of audiences from elderly people to young children. It appeals to these two very different audiences because it has simple story-lines that children can follow, but it also has some jokes in it that the adults understand and the children don't. It also can be educational because it covers a lot of history. The credits at the beginning of the programme entice people to watch because it's very simple with catchy music, but it also conveys what the programme is about. It also involves the audience because the characters that appear in it are made into little figures that people can collect.
